And the van came

The carpet was finally laid. I took care of the Carpet (Layer) Man like feeding him on time including snacks.

And he was more than happy to see all the floors spotless clean! He worked swiftly as all he did was just laid the carpet.

Then he told me, "the other day when I laid the carpet on someone's home, I had to wash my hands a hundred times". I smiled seeing relief on his face.

He asked me where the old carpets were, I told him that I had already disposed them. He smiled because he didn't have to do anything.

In the afternoon, he went to pick his children at school while mine came home on a school bus.

The moment the girls entered in and saw the bright sparkling new carpet, they rolled on the floor all over. And my youngest said, "Mum, I can dance now". I said, "well, go ahead and dance."

It happened that the young man came from Switzerland. He migrated to Australia when he married his Aussie wife. Interestingly, his son was my daughter's classmate. So that even sealed a friendship between us. They are very beautiful family.

The work was done in less than a day. I could not really thanked enough.

Next day, I rang the owner of the Carpet Shop and thanked the manager too. I didn't know what the carpet layer said to him because the manager told me, "if only all the people were like you, we won't have difficulty doing our job." I said, "Thank you for the kind compliment."

I also thanked the Department for finally dispensing us mercy. Since then, none of us got sick like we were before.

The next tenant was the luckiest to inherit that well-looked after house. I miss that home too. But I take the memory with me especially the garden.
