A TRIBUTE to an English lady named Carol Rickards Hewer

Carol, a beautiful person I have known since way back 1982. She is actually my former boss. I worked for them as a Correspondent Secretary though her ex-hubby would insist that my Job Title was aptly more of a "Social Secretary".

Our friendship blossomed from trust. It developed beyond the boundary of Employer-Employee Relationship. Until I came to Australia, get married and divorced with children, our rapport never faded. She's always caring, always giving and always loving that I could never match. To her, I am more of a sister than anything else. She was my confidante, my counsellor, my all.

I owe her debt of gratitude for standing by me in those trying times in my life. My girls were spoiled rotten by her Fairy Godmotherish unconditional affection and love so unparalleled; so unequalled. She saw to it that none of them were left uncared for, unloved and unwanted in the absence of their father.

To you Carol, a darling friend, a word that is beyond description about your person, I know I have lacked in you with so many shortcomings to fill up. I hope my children will always keep you in their hearts inasmuch as I do for I know they have good and loving memories of you though they haven't met you in person nor I. I'm not going to promise you anything, but one day, one day, we'll meet. We can keep our hopes and dreams burning.

I found this poem from my favourite Inspiration Line. This I will dedicate to you. May you have joy, peace, happiness and good health to enjoy with Uncle John and family.

Thinking of you with lots of love. oxoxoxoxoxo

Carol, in the early years of our friendship. This was in 1984.

Friendship

Friendship needs no studied phrases,
Polished face, or winning wiles;
Friendship deals no lavish praises,
Friendship dons no surface smile.

Friendship follows Nature's diction,
Shuns the blandishments of Art,
Boldly severs truth from fiction,
Speaks the language of the heart.

Friendship favors no condition,
Scorns a narrow-minded creed,
Lovingly fulfills its mission,
Be it word or be it deed.

Friendship cheers the faint and weary,
Makes the timid spirit brave,
Warns the erring, lights the dreary,
Smoothes the passage to the grave.

Friendship - pure, unselfish friendship,
All through life's allotted span,
Nurtures, strengthens, widens, lengthens,
Man's relationship with man.

  6. Salitype, Arkansas Patti, Regina, Kilauea Poetry and Tes, your kind comments mean a lot to me. Yes, KP our relationship is Correspondence which is now extended at Facebook. The closest we could get is phone call. I am very blessed by Carol's loyalty. One of a kind. She is actually speechless by this tribute. It's my only way to let her know how much I have appreciated her through the years. Thank you very much.

  12. Betsy, Nance, Danton, Pam and Sandy, thank you so much for coming. Four years ago, someone at Myspace posted about writing a Dash or attribute to a friend. I didn't at that time, so I did it now and let Carol know about it. :)
